let us celebrate life

The very thought of being in Delhi during Holi is quite enthralling. It is pleasantly coincidental to celebrate the festive of colors in Delhi after work took me away from India for 7 years.

Yesterday on my way to Connaught Place I realized I forgot my phone at home. In the world we live today the thought of separating from your phone makes you feel as if you are transposed to a world of isolation. Half nervous and half frustrated I hastily took a turn and invariably landed in the dense lanes of Lajpat Nagar. Totally unaware of what is going to happen next, I was welcomed with a strong splash of cold water. The lanes were crowded with forest of concrete structures. The water was pouring from all directions reincarnating the modern way of celebrating Holi. I committed two core mistakes that people often do in such situations: look up from my car to find the culprit and stand clampdown ( instead of rolling up the windows). Results were obvious - I was drenched more.

For momentarily I was flabbergasted but then I transformed myself to savor the moment - who knows how many years I need to wait again for this serendipity.

In the busy schedule we live in we always forget to cherish these small moments of joy and I surrendered myself to celebrate life.

Delhi Always amazes me

15-Mar-2011

I did not come to Delhi for four good years until Nov 2010. Since then I am in Delhi every month for the last 5 months – amused at the thought yet refreshingly delightful
Delhi never disappoints me; contrary to all the big cities of the world I have been; Delhi brings an immense sparkle and it never ceases to amaze me. Delhi manages to awe me despite of all the dreads of traffic chaos and soaring crime.
I landed yesterday around 8:00 PM after a 14 hour arduous flight. Turning and tossing on my bed since 3:00 AM totally jetlagged brooding over the thought of what makes Delhi special for me – is it because I was born here or my friends and family or what this city has given me? I am sure the list is long but I believe the fond memories of some of the best years I have spent in Delhi with people I love the most tops it all
This time however, Delhi seems exquisitely ecstatic and it cannot be just my sheer love for the city. My effort to find the reason is futile thus far. I guess sometimes you need to leave things just the way it is without answers!!
